"If I didn't work with cops you investigated while you were making your name at I.A., I'd be working alone. I don't get political points for being an idealist, I have to do the best I can with what I have."
Lieutenant James Gordon is an honest cop.
In a city where the line between light and darkness is often blurred by the smoke and haze of chaos, this is no small feat. A veteran of the Gotham City Police Department, he has watched his city crumble beneath the weight of madmen and organized crime, and rise with the help of a knight in not-so-shining armor. Batman isn't the hero that he ever thought Gotham would need - but he's the one that they deserve.

As far as canon and timelines go, Jim is set during the middle film in the trilogy - The Dark Knight - before the armored truck transport of Harvey Dent that captures the Joker (and before he makes the rank of Commissioner).
I am using Gary Oldman (obviously) as the physical appearance of Gordon. He is a 'normal' human, with no special abilities and/or strange physical features. He has brown hair (flecked with hints of grey) and brown eyes, a decent build for his height/weight - he's no muscled athlete, but he is in very good shape and able to perform his duties as a cop without any difficulty. He is trained in the use of several types of firearms and in advanced driving techniques, as well as crisis negotiation.
REGARDING COMICS PUPS RECOGNIZING GORDON / FINDING HIM SIMILAR IN APPEARANCE: Yes, by all means! Just be aware he may be a little confused at first, especially before he realizes that there are more universes and more versions of him that exist.
If anyone has any questions regarding Jim and/or wants to get in touch, he has a contact post up in his journal where a comment (screened) can be left.
Jim Gordon is property of DC Comics, and his portrayal in the Nolanverse films is property of Legendary Pictures, Syncopy Films, and Christopher Nolan. Gary Oldman is obviously property of himself; I am not Gary Oldman. No profit is being made from this writing exercise! This journal is for use in the
